Losing a Family Member to Alcoholism

In 1986, at the age of 46, Gina Nagel’s Aunt Betty wound up in the hospital for some bleeding and weakness and within 10 days she died of kidney and liver failure from complications of alcoholism. In this interview we learn how Gina’s Aunt’s death affected her and her family, at the time and how it still influences her—particularly around the role that alcoholism plays in her life.
