Grief and Loss Counseling in New York

Group Counseling

What is a Support Group?

A support group can help you discover new ways to cope with your grief. You should consider joining a group if you would like to better understand your grief and identify strategies to cope with the changes in your life. In a group, you will find a place where you can meet with others who can understand your experience in a compassionate and caring environment. You don’t have to grieve alone.

Here is a short video about support groups:

A Few Notes about Support Groups

The support groups listed here are meant to be psycho-educational and do not involve the diagnosis of a mental health disorder. The purpose is to provide a safe, supportive environment to share your grief experiences. You will not be able to receive insurance reimbursement for these groups. The cost is $75 per group session.

To learn more about any of the groups listed here, call me 212-204-6586 or schedule a 15-minute phone consultation to discuss joining a group.

Join a Support Group

Mourning Loss Group – Thursday Mornings from 9:30 am to 11:00 am

As a member of this support group, you will be able to talk with others who can relate to your experience with grief and loss. All types of losses are welcome in this group. This group is designed for those who are grieving the death of a sibling. This group will run for eight consecutive weeks, and requires a commitment to attending all group sessions.

In this group we will discuss the significance of our sibling relationships, family dynamics and how familial roles are redefined after the loss. You will learn new ways to cope with your loss, how to address conflict in the family and openly express your grief.
